Here's a shout-out to the humble throw pillow: a respectable boost to any home decor. It's small while making a big impact, keeps your space fresh and on trend, and you don't have to spend a lot. All good stylists know that some of the best places to buy throw pillows are at discount stores like HomeGoods, Etsy, Wayfair.com and Target. Consider the size, shape and how you want to use them before buying. Euro pillow? Great for a king size bed when placed 3 in a row. Lumbar pillow? Great for an accent chair that requires its design to be showcased. The classic 20" square? Pretty much works anywhere. When grouping pillows, style them in order from biggest to smallest and try to mix textures (i.e linen, leather, mohair) and patterns (i.e. chevron, striped, dots). Look for the right scale (too small=overlooked, too big=misplaced), and balance (too many=lacks editing, too few=sad) and always give a proper fluff and chop for that authentic, editorial look. Props to the pillow.
