Tile Time

Tile is one of the most fun design elements to play with. Yes, it's mostly permanent, so you want to love it for the long haul. But, it's also a daily dose of happy if you pick the right kind. When it comes to selection, playing it too safe can feel boring and uninspiring. If you love a classic tile, try playing with the scale (large to oversized), material (textured porcelain or wood-grain look), pattern (mini stacked vertical or elongated hexagon), and color (muted peach or muddy teal). Be sure to use the best grout (ahem, Mapei), and don't go for drastic contrast. Keep it subtle so the tile truly shines.
